SAFF Beach Day '09 - 24th January SAFF's beach days are a great social event for the SAFF. Always on a beautiful sunny day, the beach days are great fun, whether it be swimming in the water, talking in the shade or having a nice game of Aussie beach cricket. Victor Harbour Relay For Life '09 - 2nd-3rd May The Relay for Life is an event organise by the Cancer Council. In Relay For Life, each team is asked to raise $100 of donations per person in an attempt to raise needed funds for research into a cure for Cancer. The event involves members of each team taking it in turns to carry their team's personal banner around an oval or a total of 20 hours, over night, symbolising Cancer patients' struggle around the clock. SAFF has participated in the Relay for Life at Victor Harbour since the first event at Victor in 2006. It is a great experience for the group and has been enjoyed by all every year since the first. With so much time to spend with the group, friendships have been solidified more than every over the 20 hours spent walking around the track. Click here for the event thread on the SAFF Boards

SAFF Open Day '09 - Date TBA. Last year, SAFF organised an 'Open day'. A day where people could come to a hired venue to meet some of the members, browse some Star Wars goodies, buy all sorts of Star Wars merchandise, see a special presentation from a special guest (Star Wars author Sean Williams), and learn about SAFF and how to join. The first event was a smash hit with a much bigger turn out than expected and a lot of funds were raised for future events. In light of the great success of the first event, another went into motion of 2009. A date has not yet been set, but stay tuned for announcements later in the year.
